What's New at Kyoto NHK ESS?

Dear ESS members,
This is the announcement of the practice on April 5th.Seiichiro Iwai will be in charge of the latter half of practice on April 5th.
Title: Ler`s have discussion about the story of the Ukrainian girl.
Genre: Discussion
I read the article of newspaper about the Ukrainian girl,13th years old, who lost her legsin a Russian attack and completed the 5km Tokyo Marathon Friendly run.
The purpose of running the Tokyo Marathon is to raise money for prosthetics for Ukrainiansoldier wounded in the war. I was so impressed with her story. So, we share the opinions about aspects of the Russia-Ukraine war in terms of her story.
The procedures are below.
1) Make several groups(3-4 members in each group)
2) Please have the discussion '' what do you think from her story？ ''I also provide the topic ’’the questionnaire about the Ukraine crisis’’ for discussion. According to the questionnaire, around 40% of Japanese are concerned about the Ukraine crisis. Do you think this rate is high or low? Please discuss this issue with the same group.

Title: The Past and Future of ESS
Genre: (After Presentation) Discussion
Procedure: First I'd like to show you some facets of ESS activities using a projector and PPT. After the presentation, make some groups, and discuss this topic among small member groups.
After the discussion, one of the group members will summarize the result of the discussion.
Description: Kyoto NHK ESS has a history of more than 63 years since 1962. I first would like you all to see the pictures and descriptions of our circle activities of days in Yosenji Temple using PPT slides.
After the presentation we will discuss the topic on our ESS using following agenda.

Agenda
1. How was your impression of our circle when you first come to the Temple? And tell us the changing vision or idea on our circle.
2. What was the most impressive event or experience in our circle activities? Blames toward some members are not welcomed though.
3. What do you think are the problems of our recent circle activities?
4. What kind of the role our circle should play in a society?
5. Envision your future image of our circle.

I’d like all of you to discuss this down-to- earth topic wishing for creating a happy and sustainable community.

Dear ESS members

How is everyone ?
I hope you are doing well.
I have an announcement about the practice on April 19th.

I love taking a bath .
I sometimes go to the public bath and spa.
So ,today’s topic is “What a nice bath!（いい湯だな）”
Let’s talk about your bath time.

Firstly, we divide into 3 or 4 groups.
1. I prepared some questions about Onsen.
　温泉にまつわるクイズを出しますので、皆さんで考えてみましょう。

2. Please tell me all about your bath story.
　お風呂や温泉について、思い出やこだわり、おすすめの温泉など聞かせてください。

I’m looking forward to meeting you at the temple.

Proverb and My StoryHi, everybody.

This is the announcement of the latter half practice on April 26.
Proverbs are the fruit of the wisdom of mankind. They have a lot to do with our life experiences. Let’s enjoy proverbs and learn their wisdom!
Procedure Divide into four groups of four to five members.
Choose the chief in each group.
Practice according to the direction below.
・Complete the proverbs, 60 proverbs in all.
The chief, having the answer sheet, checks the answers by segment. The chief can also offer the clues to the answers if necessary. (about 30 mins)
・Each member picks the proverb they like and tell the reason, or the experience evoked by it if possible, to the other members in the group. (about 30 mins)
