また個人的な感想ではありますが、スタッフとしての初めて月を終えてホッとしています。
特に、初級班の前半プラクティスの進行はタドタドしくなってしまい‥ご迷惑をおかけしてます。
どうぞビシバシと、ご指導のほどよろしくお願い致します。

Presenter: Mr. Hori
Genre: Discussion
Title: Debate type discussion? What’s that?
Description:
In this practice I’d like you to discuss several issues. Unlike a usual discussion, this “debate type” discussion requires you to follow the opinions given to you in the paper that I will hand out before the practice time. That means no matter what opinions you actually have, your arguments should be based on the opinions writtten in that paper. Your main task is to come up with good reasons for supporting those opinions and convince other participants to agree with you.
Firstly, every member in the group tells the opinions given to them in that paper and presents the reasons that they think can support those opinions. Then the members start a free discussion.
Remember, you have to stick to the opinions given to you in that paper during the discussion.
I hope you can enjoy this practice.

2010-6-26のプラクティス予告

Presenter: Mr. Oku

Let’s learn current English from the newspapers.

How often do you read English newspapers? I imagine you would do so occasionally when you need English training or feel hungry of them. Indeed, everyday, a lot of current, idiomatic, and up-to-date words and phrases are printed in the reports of world-wide and domestic news.

Today’s practice is composed of four steps:

(1) Read colloquial English phrases and words that are excerpted from newspapers (10 min).

(2) Write creatively more than a few English sentenses of your own by using the words and phrases printed in italicized letters (20 min).

(3) Present them and talk on them in each group (20 min).

(4) In the last 10 min, select 2 or 3 interesting products and show them to us all.

Let’s start and enjoy!

Title: How Much Would You Pay?

Description:
This activity is designed to improve your listening and speaking skills. This activity has two
stages. In the first stage, you read descriptions and answer the questions about your sense of value.
Then, you show your answer to other members of your group, and share sense of value of all members.
The information would be a key in the next stage. In the second stage, you read descriptions and
answer the questions as you have answered in the previous stage. Then, you estimate the third (or
second, forth,
…, etc.) largest price in your group based on the standard of value of group members, which you may
get in the previous stage. You find the third largest price in your group by opening the price of all
members. You obtain your score as the gap of your price and the third largest price. The score is
added question by question. Finally, if you get the minimum total score in your group, you are the
winner in your group.

simple pictures is an effective way to share your ideas with other
people.

In this practice I would like you to explore presentations which
utilizes simple pictures. Firstly, pick an idea and state it in a
simple sentence. The simpler is the idea, the better -- because this
is just a practice. Then, you are suppose to expand your idea in a few
-- three to five -- pictures in which the idea is explained
best. After that, you're going to give them a go.

There should be some questions or challenges from others. Please feel
free to discuss them in your group.

I hope you like the practice.
